Consider the author's comment about Lily that” “I see in my daughter the understanding that a single careless action can lead to a stain or an irreversible tear” (142)?

In light of this comment, why do you think the author puts the story of Noah’s accident in her story (132-135)?

Was the story about Noah's accident a story about about an irreversible tear?

    I wouldn’t say that Noah’s accident is a story of an irreversible tear, rather it’s the first instance of this tear showing itself. This tear being the new distance between the narrator and her children. Although she has them the majority of the time she will no longer be there for all of the major events in their lives such as a traumatic injury.
