Chapter 35A: "The last best place."

Elizabeth Allen, a psychiatric nurse in Vietnam. History.com

Frankie dedicates her life to helping American women who served in the Vietnam War.

In an ideal world, if you dedicated your life to helping a group of people--other than you own family--what group of people would you like to help and why?

What kind of help do you think those people are likely to need?

I would want to help victims of sexual assault. I would want to help them understand that what happened to them doesn’t define them, that they are God’s children, and he loves them very much.

Someone to talk to or maybe just comfort them. Let them know they aren’t alone.

  2. In an ideal world, I would love to dedicate my life to helping others get closer to Jesus Christ. More specifically athletes, I would love to sort of disciple younger athletes. It is really hard to be a student athlete and figure everything else in life out. It’s our responsibility as believers to pour into one another and bring each other closer to Jesus. If someone hasn’t heard the good news of Christ, and nobody spreads it, how will they ever know. This summer I got to kind of experience this, starting a weekly Bible study with the senior athletes at Ada High School. It was such a blessing to be able to see God work in those guys during the Bible study as well as after in their everyday life. I never knew how much I would’ve enjoyed doing that and having that community and camaraderie, it’s been one of my favorite things to do and made my summer so special. The help that these people need and the need that comes up the most is having discipleship, something that happens very often is someone gives their life to Christ, then they are kind of left alone with no discipleship, community, or advice and leadership. It’s so sad to see and that’s why it’s so important for us to reach out to others and hold one another accountable in our walk with he Lord as well as everyday life!

  3. Along with Case's answer, I would also dedicate my life to helping others find Jesus. I believe everyone should hear of Jesus and what He has done. I have grown to know Jesus. Although I am far from perfect, I would spread the word of God to anyone who would listen. We are called to spread the good news of God. God sent His son as a sacrifice to for us so that someday we may rejoice as we reunite with Him. If I could impact a group of individuals to begin and grow a relationship with God I would be elated. If I can help you, please reach out!

  4. I would dedicate myself to children in less fortunate circumstances because I think no child should grow up thinking no one cares or loves them. Children need love; they need to know that they are not alone and that someone does care and will be there for them. I have been around children who don't think there is anyone who is there for them no matter what, and I can't think of anything more heartbreaking to me.

  5. More than anything, I would like to dedicate myself to children who grow up in neglectful or less than ideal housing environments. Growing up without proper stability, be it emotional, financial or physical stability, can seriously affect a child for the rest of their life, and its a problem that should be addressed as quickly as we're able to. These people likely need to be helped by being placed in an uplifting, safe environment where they're free to grow without any mental limitations, in order for them to become the best versions of themselves.
