P6, C9, 2: "Alvin Ladner's America"

"Light/Dark" (1977) by Marina Ambramovic

Soni takes solace in the fact that he "made the Indian men human" to Ladner (322).

Have you ever had an experience in which you thought of someone you didn't know very well as an enemy, but when you got to know them better or learned more about them, you felt differently about them?

If so, describe that experience here.

Only respond to this prompt after you have read part six, chapter nine and all of the preceding chapters.

  1. Yes, I believe that everyone, at some point, has judged someone's entire character based on maybe one action they observed and later talked to that person and realized they had misjudged them. However, I do believe that in Ladner's situation, this was likely not the case. If Ladner had been cognitively on par, he likely would not have had the same mentality he did. When I first began going to the gym, my friend introduced me to his friend, who also constantly went to the gym. Previously, I had negative thoughts regarding this person from rumors I had heard from other individuals, but once I became close to this individual, I realized I had him all wrong, and he was indeed a good person and is one of my best friends to this day.
