Describe someone in your life whose artistry is not recognized or appreciated because it does not involve painting, sculpting, music or another traditional artistic form? What artistic skills and talents does this person demonstrate?

My third grade teacher, and close family friend, Melissa Robbins, is the best teacher I have ever seen. She brings life to children that had no hope. She puts a smile on everyones face. And although her husband is at home, very sick, she puts it all aside and turns then simple children into even more amazing masterpieces. She teaches children that others thought were unteachable. I don't think most people think of teaching as an art, but I believe it is. I believe art influences people, it positively or negatively affects their lives. She brings light and positivity into very dark and hurt children.
ReplyDeleteI completely agree with your comment! My mother is a second grade teacher and her classroom is full of color and joy. She spends hours in her room making sure each child is comfortable in her class. On every one of her papers that she grades, she adds an encouraging message to them even if they failed the homework. She includes every student in their activities and listens to the students who need help. I believe that teaching is an art, like you stated and I hope more people realize it!
DeleteI agree with you. Teaching takes a special set of skills and many teachers are truly magical. In 8th grade, I had this history teacher who completely changed my life for better. She loved each and every single students and would smile and bring positivity and happiness into her classroom every single day regardless of what might be going on in her life. She brought out the best in every single students and made sure they were heard. I was a shy student who kept to myself and was still learning English as my second language. In just few months, she taught me more than what I had learned ever since coming to USA. She helped me socialize more and helped me become confident by providing continuous motivation and inspiration. She would help me after school almost everyday and drop me home most of the time because my parents would be at work. Because of her, I learned to appreciate history and cultures of the whole world. Because of her, I believe that teachers do go to extra length to help out those in need. They do see us. Teaching is an art.

Growing up with both of my parents as educators, I have also seen the impact teachers have on students. My mom and dad always told me it was their form of ministry because they felt it was their job to mold and create strong, independent children to pass on to the next level in life. They enjoyed being a part of building a students success.
DeleteLynse was my dance teacher for most of my life, but it is not her choreography and dance skills that make her so special. All of the people who have taken a class from her would probably agree that you leave her class having learned more than just a dance combination. She has a way of inspiring confidence and love within everyone around her. I learned so much more than how to dance in all my years as her student. She taught me the importance of being a team player, dedication, self-love, following through on promises, and so much more. I truly believe she made me a better person and became like a second mother.
ReplyDeleteBoth of my parents have been basketball coaches all my life. You wouldn't think that a sport would take much artistry or creativity, but when you look under the surface of a coach who would do anything they could to win, it is plain to see. I have seen my parents end the season with winning records with a team that shouldn't have won a game. You can't just go onto the court and run the same plays year after year. Each year players develop and change, so the strategy of the game has to change with them. That takes a lot of creativity. Some years more than others. The one constant strategy though is "always put others in a position to succeed". With that in mind and a dash of creativity, anyone can have a winning season!

ReplyDeleteMy mom has mastered the art of conversation. She has a way with words and presenting them in a way that can be relatable and almost tangible to people of all backgrounds. She has a captivating way of holding the attention of the listener. I believe some of that can be attributed to her unique and beautiful voice, while some of it is how well studied she is on the gift of language. She keeps all interactions engaging and meaningful. I have never seen someone grow bored when talking to her, and I believe this is because she takes on each conversation with a purpose. Face to face conversations are a dying thing, so I am in awe that my mother’s ability has touched even the lives of those bound by “screen conversations.”

My first debate coach, Mr. Burton, was the artist whose work went majorly underappreciated by society. His strategy and understanding of debate was unrivaled by almost any other person I have ever encountered. While many might claim that debate is not an art, I would very much contend that it is. Art is the expression of human thought and creativity. Debate expresses such creativity through unique argumentation, case strategy, and oratorical prowess. As a coach, Mr. Burton helped us thirty debaters on the team create our own individual tapestries. He patiently guided us in crafting the debater we wanted to become and structuring our thoughts in concise, persuasive manners. He demonstrates understanding of the human mind and how to create beauty that will inspire others towards action. Looking back, I wish I had truly understood the impacts he made on my life and appreciated the beauty of his work.

ReplyDeleteMy mother is someone who “(brings) beauty to the world” through a non-traditional art form. Every year she spends countless hours pulling weeds out, transplanting, watering, and reorganizing her flower garden. She has a true talent for making the garden look absolutely beautiful which she also applies to make flower arrangements for weddings and other events.
