200. Gallery Critique

"The Archduke Leopold Wilhelm in his Picture Gallery in Brussels" (c. 1647) by David Teniers the Younger

Grants offers Ron Berger as an example of an excellent teacher of "rethinking." According to Berger, "Quality means rethinking, reworking, and polishing . . . [Students] need to feel they will be celebrated, not ridiculed, for going back to the drawing board" (200).

To help his students get in the habit of rethinking, Berger created a "gallery critique," in which "students went around the room to observe [the art work of other students]," and then he "facilitated a discussion of what they saw as excellent and why" (200).

For this challenge, review comments other students have left on this website. Identify comments that you consider to be excellent and explain why you see them that way. Bonus points* for commenting on a post offered by student you don't know well.

*You won't literally get "bonus points," but it's an honorable learning goal to shoot for.
